VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Pedro Morales scored from the spot in the 23rd minute and David Ousted made five saves as the Vancouver Whitecaps took a 1-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo at BC Place.

After losing their first two games of the season to Montreal and Sporting Kansas City, the Whitecaps have now won twice in a row. They beat the Seattle Sounders 2-1 last weekend.

Japanese midfielder Masato Kudo made his first start for Vancouver and had an impact in the early stages. He was stopped in close after Fraser Aird set him up, but just a few minutes later he was hauled down in the box, resulting in a Vancouver penalty kick. Morales stepped up and confidently buried his shot into the left corner for his fourth goal of the season.

Vancouver’s back line was reconfigured with Kendall Waston and Tim Parker away for international duty. Andrew Jacobson, who was recently acquired in a trade, got his first start with the Whitecaps.

The ‘Caps will host the Los Angeles Galaxy next Saturday.
